Will Smith is well known for his music, movies and for his pseudonym: The Fresh Prince (but, not so much for his real name: Willard Christopher Smith Jr.)! He experienced his first taste of greatness in the 1980's and has never looked back. Starring in some very popular and memorable movies: Bad Boys, Independence Day, Men in Black, I Robot, I am Legend, Wild Wild West, Enemy of the State and Shark Tale, to mention but a few, Smith went on to achieve International success. President Barack Obama has said that if there were to be a film made about his life, Smith would play his part, because “he has the ears”.
But, now there's a new pair of ears on the scene!
Born of two great actors, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, came Willow Smith, with a combination of mom and dad's acting talent, confidence and, of course, daddy's famous ears.
Willow acted alongside her father as his daughter in I Am Legend. Her performance in Kit Kittredge: an American Girl earned her a Young Artist Award, and she has also carved out a niche using that beautiful voice of hers. To date, she has released 3 singles: Whip My Hair, 21st Century Girl and Fireball (featuring Nicki Minaj).
Unfortunately, in the case of young girls who start their music career before they become teenagers, when they do hit puberty, they usually end up using the spotlight to display their teenage angst and play out their rebellion by wearing inappropriate outfits and making provocative music videos (case in point Miley Cirus, Britney Spears… you get the idea). We can only hope that Willow will be different.
Willow has a younger brother, Jaden Smith, with whom she tied for the young star award (BET Awards). Jaden is also likely to make it big in Hollywood as he gets older. Willow and Jaden have a half-brother, Willard Christopher Smith III (better known as “trey”), Born to Will and his first wife, Sheree Zampino. Trey appeared in his father's music video “Just the Two of Us”.
It looks like the Smith name will never be forgotten, thank goodness for that!
